McCartney, like most people, is more complex than this review gives his body of work credit for. Has he constructed an archetype over the years? Sure, but he also has songs that say more melodically and instrumentally than they do lyrically. Take a song like I Will. Are the lyrics profound? Not really, but imo the song is. Plus there are great tunes like Eleanor Rigby, Hey Jude and Let it be that are fantastic examples of songwriting imo. I look forward to hearing the album. Maybe we can both revisit this discussion after listening to it. We could co-edit a review of it :) aside: We are seriously considering naming our son Jude.
