I want to quit smoking.
I never was a chronic smoker, but I did too much. The way I thought of it was this: "Do I want to accomplish other things that are harder than quitting smoking? If so, then this is just a test to show myself that I can." I haven't had a cigarette for over 10 years.
You can do it!

Best of luck eb. Quitting smoking did wonders for my physical and mental well being.

It's surprising how quickly you start to regain your health and energy... and lose the cough you didn't even realize you had.

Hey, checking back on this thread as we are now almost 5 months in to the year. How's the quitting smoking going?

:) hey thanks for asking thenewgreen, I'm doing good, I haven't smoked anymore (sometimes I think about it but that's it...)
I began gaining weight so I have started runing too... :D I noticed that now I don't go anymore clubbing like I used to, a lot of my friends smoke (I find it difficult having smokers around still). My sense of smell is better now, lol. Working on weekends and studing for some exams in June/July and that's it...

I'm rooting for you. And just think of the money you'll save :)

I quit smoking last year (2011) after 17 years. I thought I couldn't cold turkey but it's been easier than I thought. I rarely think of a smoke now and my mind is always otherwise occupied soon after. Now I buy a lottery ticket each week with some of the money I save, I always promised myself I'd do that. Haven't won anything yet but it feels good to buy that ticket

It is not as hard as people would make it out to be. If I could do it, anyone can. I told myself that I must quit smoking and that was that.
