I don't use Google Reader, but with even casual knowledge of it, I know that Google Reader users really love it.

I think that Google's strategy from here on out is going to be very influenced by Google+. In the short term, I think it is going to lead to more success and revenue. But, in the long-term, I think it is going to make it harder for them to make unique and interesting products. Not every product can be improved with the tint of social.

I wish Cleary luck with http://hivemind.org. As Princess Leah said to Tarkin: "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers." :)

I don't know, they are having a hard time getting G+ adopters to stick, and their "incentives" to use G+ seem to be to eviscerate existing services that people use and value unless people adopt . When I can't watch off color vids on you tube with out a G account will be the day I stop watching off color vids on you tube, same thing with using G-mail, I have other e-mail accounts and think that switching e-mail would be easier then signing up for the +. I don't really use any social media, I have a facebook account that is linked to my phone, but really, the only reason I use it is so that I can see my sister in laws sappy feel good facebook updates for a laugh, I don't need a narrowly adopted social media site, or even a broadly adopted one.

I only like G+ slightly more than facebook, but yesterday I did a 3 person hangout on G+ and it was pretty freaking good. For now, that is enough for me to keep an account.

I'm going to get around to deleting my fb account at some point. I don't like it.

But, yeah, I am sure the day will come where you won't be able to watch off-color vids on youtube without a G+ account. That's when an alternate service will start to pick up traction. Google is going to over reach with this one.
