I really didn't like grunge when I first listened to it in high school, but ever since I saw Sound City a month ago, I've been really into Nirvana. I don't know what I didn't like about them before; I must have been missing something. I can't get enough of them now.
Different things hit people at different times. I felt like that about Blondie, who I always heard my dad play on his stereo. Thus, it was "dad" music; uncool and unlistenable. What you're talking about it a little different, but sometimes with music, context can make all the difference.
