The only actual time there might be a "cross-class encounter" is if your family is one of the three that actually fits in the foyer in front of reception because otherwise you're probably waiting in your car.

You need simple interaction to calculate anything in those high energy sociology models.

You know it's funny. I've been reading Kim Phillips-Fein's Invisible Hands. She makes the point that Mises and Hayek were washed-up Nazis whose entire basis of thought was disproven by German hyperinflation yet the hypercapitalists of the United States were so threatened by the labor movement that they ghost-wrote a clunky robber baron version of Das Kapital, put it in every factory owner's hand and called it economics. I've heard the "Austrian School" discredited before but I've never read anyone call it straight-up flimflammery. I mean, Piketty bailed on the US because he was uncomfortable with Americans consider economics a science rather than an art; he didn't straight up call it bullshit tho.

It occurs to me that "this is science" because "I made it up" being the fundamental basis for all government economic action has probably had erosive effects on American science in general.
