Everything here went full crazy in the matter of a week, in another week I’ll be driving home across the country. Trying to prep for a 3-4 day trip where I can’t really stop anywhere because who knows how long restaurants or hotels will stay open. I mean, I just got laid off from a restaurant in a hotel so I’m not optimistic. I know I’m capable of driving 12 hours a day, I’ve done it before in less comfy seats but fuck. That’s all I got, just Fuck. My work is trying to be helpful and give housing where they can, a lot of people have lost their housing very quickly so they’re offering hotel rooms but that’s short term. They also aren’t kicking anybody out, but strongly recommending those who can leave do because they might be forced by parks eventually. I’m leaving so hopefully the people who really need it can stay. The whole thing has been surreal honestly, it’s like I’m trying to cling to normalcy while also planning a road trip and wondering if I should get jerry cans in case some gas stations start to close. So happy I have a dog right now though.
Gas will be available. It's a public necessity. So will groceries. Restaurants? I suspect take-out will stay open. The other side of this will be a new world. I don't know what it looks like yet, and I don't know how far out it is. What I know is that life is in the delta - that part of the river where it joins the ocean, and that part of the graph where it changes from one thing to another. There's a quote from The Expanse about what happens "in the slip" but I can't find it now. What you need to look at is who you want to be when this is over. Where you want to be when this is over. And focus on that shit like a goddamn drishti.
Gas is under $2 where I am... guessing part of that are the Saudi shenanigans earlier this month. Good time to fill tank if you're taking proper sanitary pre-cautions at the pump. If talking about job$. Had a shower thought that it's been a nice round century since a world-scale effort of this magnitude actively mobilized countries to face a crisis. Instead of gearing towards a war-effort, the focus is health. Finding an avenue into health industry in come capacity wouldn't be a bad option.Gas will be available.
