I'm curious now. Do you celebrate it as a religious holiday, a secular holiday, or a bit of both? Your neighbors? Either way, it sounds like you're in for a lovely day. :)
I am half polish half palestinian. Our celebration has nothing to do with religion but rather culturally. My father studied and met my mother in germany so it was also part of his life for a while. I guess we celebrate our multiculturality, somehow. We try to not get the attention of our neighbours because in a city like ours (25-30k people) everyone knows everyone and people talk. This might sound ridiculous, but we would rather not get the attention of the city...
