Whelp,there's islands and there's islands. If you have line-of-sight to the shore, you can do tightbeam or drop a cable. If you don't, you can go iridium, which you certainly aren't watching Netflix over. The island refugee found would be pretty easy to get internet on, comparatively. Then there's this guy I talked to on Reddit a few years back. He's out on Easter Island. There aren't even any satellites in the sky over him. And if he wants to drop a cable, it's 4,000 miles to Chile. So the whole damn island shares a dial-up connection.
