Len realized that in the hospital that night, a few months before his father died, Sid Blum had lost in order to give him a gift of confidence which would carry him through the many fatherless years ahead.
-What a wonderful thing for your father to have the awareness to do, it brought a tear to my eye. This is a great read lil, I've never been a chess player but this makes me want to try my hand at it. I always felt like it was too late for me to try, nobody wants to play chess against someone that is just learning. I have the same problem with poker, I've never played and feel it's probably too late for me to become proficient. Mostly due to a lack of time and priorities.

Perhaps I have the gene though and could learn quickly? Though this is doubtful as it doesn't seem to have been expressed in any of my kin.

Great read!

Thanks so much for reading tng. Your support means a lot to me. That, of course, is the same "Len" who wrote Private Parts - of which we've talked.

While I loved Private Parts, I prefer to think of him as the guy that penned Meatballs.

Did I mention that Spaz was played by my other brother?

That is Sooo cool. I literally watched that movie at least once a week as a kid. Spaz was an awesome character. I see the resemblance a bit ;-)

You have one interesting family lil, I bet reunions are a hoot.
