"Maybe this insistence on a male blank slate (a kind of reverse objectification, when you think about it) makes it easier to project oneself onto the disembodied penis, but it also protects men from the potentially scary experience of being turned on by both partners of a heterosexual encounter"

But what about the really rough guys they actually do employ? I find myself put off by a lot of the men (and women) in porn because they're just too disgusting to watch. I don't fully agree with their conclusions. If it was a blank slate avatar that you could project yourself onto, then I think the guys wouldn't be heavily muscled and aggressive, I think they started out as an ideal that viewers could project themselves into rather than blank them out.

This. And a lot of the time the faces and noises they make are unintentionally comical and ridiculous, which makes it kind of hard to get into. Relevant: http://www.collegehumor.com/video/3593576/safe-for-work-porn

Scarp, that was absolutely hilarious. The harmonica and the accordion had me laughing out loud.

I think a lot of heterosexual males tend to go for girl on girl porn just so they don't have to see some beefed up idiot grunting. At least that's what I hear.

Yes, I have also heard that.

I've also heard about xart models too that employ normal men, but it could be just hearsay.

I love the parts with the fiddle and the corn on the cob. ;)

Agreed. I have never understood that about porn. You would think that an industry built around nakedness would have more attractive people, but apparently, that isn't a premium.

Maybe it's the act itself that is selling most? Such a strange thing. Are other animals interested in watching porn?

maybe because not many people can maintain an erection or arousal for 4 hours in front of a crowd of people on a movie set.

Ha. I never considered that. They are sexual athletes.

Seriously, I bet that gets old.
