The real miracle here is how the media and politicians have convinced the public that high wages are the cause of our current economic woes, that years of paying people livable wages have brought the economy to its knees and squeezed out all the dynamism and creativity it used to have.

Edit: For further reading, I suggest everyone to google "the dumbest idea in the world", or read this piece, of the same title, although there are many similar article out there of similar timbre.

This is a good article, thanks for the link. It's amazing what one can do when one understands how to manage, misdirect or redirect perception. I've said it before and I've said it again: it is no wonder that politicians and media behave the way they do in the country where modern advertising was born, raised and perfected.

I don't know if you're familiar with Alan Moore, but he has stated before that advertisers are in fact practitioners of black magic. It's easy to dismiss this statement, as there is a lot of derision directed at the term "magic" and because Alan Moore is primarily a comic book writer. His ideas about what magic is and how words shape the human experience are something I find to be worth mulling over. Essentially in his statement, he means that people in advertising have developed incredible ways of manipulating the real world by managing perception and that they often do it, knowing full well that it will result in harm.
