Fruitcake? Have you made it before? Fruitcake has such a bad rep. I've never had a good one.

She makes it for her dad. Her recipe is actually really light and airy but you can't keep it that long (a plus). We've also messed around with candying our own fruit. Thing is, he doesn't like it that way, he likes the super-sweet crappy stuff, so that's what he gets.

Growing up, we made three kinds of cookies at christmas: Lebkuchen, bizcochitos and date pinwheels. These are, without a doubt, my least favorite cookies on earth. The only ones I liked that we made occasionally were bourbon balls, the recipe of which I have since completely revised to suit myself.

So I'll pass on your lebkuchen, thanks.
