You can sign up and then have a turn of heart. Signing up for military service doesn't put your present intent in concrete.

It seemed like the over-arching point was that she didn't want others identifying her as such things without her express consent. She is smart to get out in front of this and essentially say if it doesn't have my signature, I didn't say it. There are a lot of people that will want to make her a martyr for their cause.
