Do you feel people in Russia ever dress to non-verbally communicate their class?

They often do, certainly. That being said, it's as common to overdress - that is, to wear clothes of a supposedly higher class to make oneself look more than one really is. It's expensive, but with priorities as skewed as they are, people find money for it, even if they have to buy cheaper food thereafter. This is something that boggles me, because I'd never exchange good food for a good piece of cloth, even if the latter is really good. I suppose that's because food is more important in my life than dresses.

Do you feel people in Russia ever dress to non-verbally communicate their social affiliation?

If you mean what I think you mean, then - don't most people in the developed countries do that?
