I can't accept my son as an independent individual with his own agency or allow him to grow up and the idea of him making his own choices with his body seems wrong to me because I feel some right to ownership since I made him and despite knowing I am wrong refuse to set aside my prejudices and accept alternative perspectives or concepts of artistic expression and the concept that some from a younger generation have different values and concepts someone makes me obsolete in a convoluted way despite all of these things being things we fought the previous generation on! I am a literal adult baby!

A summary.

Additionally,

Your youthful passion for ever on display

Oh no, how terrible! Displaying passion? Caring deeply about something? Having a personal reminder to yourself that these things were important to you at one point in your life? But what if you change? You can't possibly acknowledge a past form of yourself or be proud of it despite being a different person many decades down the road! Are you not aware that you should live the entirety of your life purely for the last ten years to be completely devoid of any reflection, regret, mistakes, learning, or excitement? You shouldn't eat delicious unhealthy food either, or climb trees, or go traveling, or learn how to shoot a gun, or experiment with drugs, or do anything remotely dangerous! Live as long as you can, not as fully as you can! Make sure 90 year old you is satisfied and bored, even if your conception of a 90 year old is based off your current and past experiences of 90 year olds and certainly won't change over the next 70 years!

This is a touchy subject for me. Remove your self-important head from your tightly-puckered rear end. Let people have the rights to do with their own bodies as they please. I put a sentence on reddit in response to someone the other day that I feel like should just be my mantra:

Your personal comfort is irrelevant to an individual's agency.
