Would anyone else on here find a google+ style video hangout interesting or useful? I don't know the technical feasibility of that - it might be a bit too much to tackle at the moment. Or perhaps just a live chat session, town hall, or some other form of live interaction? I was thinking about it today - we post interesting content, we share ideas, we discuss, we argue - I wonder what would happen if we created something via a live system. Perhaps a guest lecturer discussing a topic. Or even an annual video-cast from mk himself.
I'm just musing here. Anonymity has come up on hubski recently - and that might quash a "hangout" type situation, but I thought I'd still ask. Does anyone else see potential benefits from some form of "hubski live"? What would be obstacles? Concerns?

We could have our own version of chat roulette

It would just be me, you and thenewgreen rotating through... Hahaha. And knowing him, he'd pull that improv musical bit that Ben folds pulled a couple years ago.

Seriously though, I don't think it's a bad idea. The differentiating factor with Hubski is the fact that through content, we get to know each other. Why shouldn't that go to the extent of a face to face discussion if someone wants it to?
Food for thought, for sure. That said, the fearless leader is away..... Stripper cam? JK.. I like the thought steve-o

I've thought about having open G+ chats, we have a small enough community that I don't think it would get too overwhelming. One time we had a Hubski G+ chat going to talk about site ideas and insomniasexx joined in. It was great getting her perspective. I'll mention it to mk when he gets back.

how is text chat different than what we now have? Couldn't the mail function be text chat? Is the difference not having to refresh a page? -Serious questions, I'm not all that familiar with text chat.

For those who are involved in the text chat, it would be real time. Imagine a group IM session. There are services out there like mibbit and chatwing that provide embeds for websites to offer chat services. We used meebo back in the days, but Google bought them and have pretty much killed all the services.
