Mitch was a comic genius and, from all accounts I've heard, genuine and kind to his fans. if you're already a fan and need any reason to like him even more, here's a great Reddit comment from a fan who met him and has kept in touch with his family to some degree. he posted a follow-up comment with some photos. the above isn't his best performance or material, but it's still so good to see it.
His cell phone, a month later. A text from Mitch Hedberg and wife. "Hey do you remember us?" Oh, goodness. Thank you for linking that. EDIT: After speaking to Lynn for a bit, she told me to go introduce myself to Mitch's parents. Okay. I walked over to her. "Hey, I'm Dustin." "Wray?" This woman, this birth mother of my celebrity idol, literally pulled my last name out randomly the very first time I introduced myself to her. She had liked what I had written on Mitch's obituary, so she remembered me. Out of thousands of messages, she recalled not only what I wrote, but my full name. EDIT 2: belatedly remembered that hubski has a feature that allows for thanking posters for posting. It was not just him. He got it from his family. After he passed, I wrote a message on his online obituary. A few months later, I went to a tribute show in Austin (where a lot of those pictures are from).
