Actually, according to the article, only

when there is a high proportion of the guanine base, the G unit, the double helix breaks down into the quadruple form, which forms a tight knot within the DNA molecule.

Does the title of the song have any bearing in the situation? I can see that if there were many G Units, the thangs bein' popped would be the double helices into quadruple helices.
