ugh... living in Colorado... this is the big news tonight for me. And I know I'm in the minority on hubski - but I'm completely over the weed situation. I'm tired and feel like ranting so here it goes. My neighbors smoke so much weed already that it's always in the air. And I hate it. I hate the smell of it. I hate the smell of cigarettes. I hate it all. And now there is NOTHING I can ever do about it. We say it's about freedom. It's about live and let live. It's about people having the right to choose. Well you know what? I think it's horse crap. Because guess what - it's no longer my freedom to be outside. It's no longer my freedom to have the windows open in my house on a nice evening. Screw them. Screw weed. And screw everyone who smokes it within 100 feet of my house. I might start stacking piles of manure next to the fence and see if they like that. or maybe rotting fish. At least then we'll both get to smell something we hate.
For me it has way less to do with the freedom to smoke it and WAY more to do with my unwillingness to imprison people for smoking it. I don't want my tax dollars paying for that. I'd go with the rotting fish though. Funny idea.
Steve, I am your olfactory opposite. Though I've never once smoked weed (or even a cigarette for that matter) in my life, I LOVE the smell of it for some reason. Like, a LOT. Which I guess begs the question of why I've never tried it. I guess seeing so many of my friends smoke in my earlier years, I honestly just lack any sort of curiosity about it, as I observed its effects first hand enough to satiate that curiosity. In the absence of that, I just never had an inkling to try it.
Dear ecib, may I ask if you use alcohol, there the few that have no need to alter their mood. Smoking would likely not suit you, brownies on the other hand. it's an experience not to be missed. It's nothing like a pack of noodle-neck teen punks blowing shotguns under the bleachers at the soccer game.
Yes I have. I guess having drank actually makes it less likely that I'd use weed. Besides the fact that I'm simply not curious about it from observation over the years, having imbibed alcohol in the past, I'm familiar with induced altered states of consciousness. I'm completely aware that the buzz is totally different, nevertheless, it makes me even less curious about other buzzes, if that makes any sense. I don't even think there's anything wrong in the slightest with smoking weed, and I think it should be legalized, -I've just never had even the slightest nagging desire to try it, and if it were legal, I can't imagine that would change. I will say this though, I'd sooner smoke a joint than ever smoke a cigarette. Talk about a terrible ROI...
It's less about the actual smell of the weed, and more about the lack of choice I have. Sure, I can move, but is that reasonable? That really was more of a rant than anything. I don't care about what one smokes or doesn't. I just don't like it when it enters my home. and to croisillon's point, perhaps a reasonable discussion with my neighbors will go a long way. I'm optimistic about Washington, why shouldn't I be about my own back yard?
Yeah dude, I think a respectful request and discussion would probably be your best bet. Just let them know how you honestly feel, -if they are anywhere near decent they'll make an effor to respect that. Maybe they can get one of those things that suck all the smoke in. Maybe you can get if for them for Christmas, ;)
