I used to have a bunch of spare bass strings lying around (different brands, etc). Still would, but I sold them to undergrads while at my MMus in exchange for beer.

in fact there's an online used market for Thomastik Infeld Spirocore bass strings. Some guys like them new and zingy, but can't stand them after 6 months. Some guys can't stand the six month break in period, and buy them off those guys to use for a year or two. Some guys can't stand the 2.5 year break in period, and buy them off those guys. And so on. I knew a guy who had 20 year old spirocores on his bass, and said they got better with age - "Like Black Socks".

nah, but new upright bass strings are like 250 bucks a set so I was giving them a sick deal for a 12 pack.
