There is a ton of people who spoke out against the types of relationships put forth in both of these novels and explained how they are either toxic or not representative of a healthy BDSM relationship. Why do people consider this offensive and view it man vs women, yet things like 50 shades, and Twilight ( abusive etc ) are heralded?
