I'm not surprised. It seems right turns at stop signs have become "roll through at 15 miles an hour and break hard just before entering the cross traffic only if someone is coming." I can easily see someone driving into the back of a car that comes to a full stop behind a stop sign at a road with no traffic approaching. Which raises the question of why Google's car isn't sensing the approach of a car from the rear and edging forward to avoid a collision. If the collision really is due to the car not acting human enough, it seems the car could make the decision to move to avoid a problem.
