Ahh .... yup. I think the interesting part is the "apogee is the collapse", though. When that civilization ran into problems of overpopulation, environmental damage, drought and economic competition in the late eighth century, they could only respond with ever greater rituals and temple construction to appease the (clearly unsatisfied) deities, as well as responding through warfare against other states.
This hits all the key points: Mention of western civilization as an entity. Calls of an end to society as we know it. Call to make a change that is already made. Making claims without actually showing why they are true, outside of "it happened before!" with a few cherrypicked examples. Sensationalistic bullshit.
