Gary Thomas - Contraption Distoria This an excellent acoustic album I found on Bandcamp. The guy has a the perfect voice for his style and his guitar work is very nice. Also, top marks for arrangement. Zara McFarlane - Police & Thieves An oh so smooth jazz cover of this reggae classic. A lovely little groover. Nik Bärtsch's Ronin - Modul 47 This self-prescribed 'Zen Funk' band produce some of the best music I've ever heard. It's like naturally evolving, minimal free ambient funk jazz (patent pending). There's bundles of character and it oozes groove. Some absolutely fantastic musicianship. GoGo Penguin - Kamaloka A jazz trio from Manchester, UK. This album was named as one of the Mercury Prize albums of the year. A really great sound that draws on a range of classic and modern influences to synthesis a unique flavour of their own.
