I really enjoyed watching this. When I first got my home recording set up, I worked a lot with alternative percussion sounds. My favorite that I came up with was recording an old wooden recorder and then chopping up all the sound waves and looping them. The effect was this odd rhythmic clipping/tweety sound. Another favorite is off a song called "Joanna's Song" on the first TNG album, I used the bellows of an accordion to get a great breathy rhythmic sound.-not revolutionary, but effective. It's actually a lot more fun (imo) to use non-traditional instruments to make music. It's far more rewarding somehow.
I now have to use that record-scratch technique. Super cool stuff. This video makes me want to make music but it also makes me want to live better. Zammuto's cool.
