Stumbled onto the big history project via Gate's Notes. The project aims to take a fresh look at why we are here, touching on everything from the big bang, biological evolution, and human culture. A highly recommend taking a look around. The entire project is summarized by a gigantic timeline spanning all of history.
You will have to make a free account to view the content. The project is meant for teachers so I just put "Home School" as my institution.
Did I tell you I was reading Guns Germs and Steel? I have not finished it yet though.
I learned Big History in university. I read a few of the "classics" from 2000-2010 (it's a new field/perspective) and it definitely informs the way I think about the world. After taking a course or reading a book from a big historical perspective - everything else you learn becomes details that fit into the larger framework of Big History. The Advanced Apes recommended.
