I was about to post this last night. My brothers sent this in a family email. Both of them attended New College with Derek, needless to say knew him and one of them graduated with him. I remember it being one of those well known secrets on people's lips before, during and after the ceremony. The College's commencement speaker was a black judge selected specifically for Derek and family's attendance. How he ties into today's narrative is really interesting based off the author's writing. On the flipside, what brought him to shift his views is all the more heartwarming. I couldn't help but notice, in his final letter delineating his present views, Jews seemed to stand out as the only people written by name with which he denounced the prejudice of. I hope y'all are having a fine Monday.
