I don't think anyone denies that prescriptivism has consequences on language, but it's never enough for prescriptivists. I've even come across prescriptivists that style themselves as descriptivists, saying that "the way they're telling you to use the language is the way it's actually used, and you're just being ignorant". Anne Curzan makes the case that the dam-builders, or linguistic prescriptivists, may have more of an influence on the language than usually acknowledged.
