I always really enjoy TLP. This particular article resonates with me because I work in accounting like my dad who was a tax accountant for almost twenty years. We've rarely ever discussed accounting topics despite the shared profession (though to be fair, my dad is a very quiet individual). I suspect that he had hoped for better for me - my siblings and I were always pressured to perform in school - and I wonder if that's why he doesn't want to discuss the topic.
Dad generally had a chaotic life and not necessarily as stable of foundation to start his career and family as he would have liked. He really strove to give my siblings and I that stable foundation; sadly, due to his inability to cope with his upbringing and other issues in his life, he took to the bottle for a long time and that combined with my mother's emotional issues really screwed up the family for a while. I still see traces of issues from that time in my siblings and I suspect that they see it in me as well.
