I mean, I'm a big Star Wars fan but... honestly, even with the very best of them (Empire, obviously), does it really 'say' anything? It's not that there's no meaning or anything to the movies but they aren't like other amazing Sci-Fi movies, like Serenity or even the older Star Treks. From the beginning they were just good, entertaining movies. Being sci-fi is pretty incidental to Star Wars as well - it could just as well be medieval fantasy or a western and you'd get a lot of the same value from it. Just like the new Star Trek, it might not be the most meaningful film, but you can't deny that it was entertaining. It was engaging, the characters weren't deep or complex, but they were interesting enough, and the cinematography was awesome (lens flare not withstanding). Also, unrelated but I watched the 5th Element pretty recently and... I really don't get what was special about it. It was entertaining but it just seemed like the message was "war is bad; try love instead" which is fine but a bit too obvious.
