An acquired taste? I have never heard that. I thought people either loved his fiction or not. Many believe he is pompous. But if he was, would he have participated in Warner Herzog Eats His Shoe? I am definitely a fan. Fitzcarraldo and Aguirre are 2 of the best. Little Dieter Needs to Fly is a great doc that most people have not seen. Not by him but Burden of Dreams (by the same director as WH Eats his Shoe) is a great behind the scenes doc of Fitzcarraldo.
