Good luck! I hope you are able to transfer, but if not I wish you well in your decision. There are a lot of opportunities out there and you are in a position to take your time, which is great. When talking with your wife, come prepared with a piece of paper that has positives and negatives written down for "working for a smaller company," and ask her to contribute to the list.
