Mainstreaming is the destruction of subculture, expecting it honor anything is pretty hopeless. The music press is all to ready to rewrite the narrative to make a sub genera of music look like the people the record companies are marketing to. Many times I've read that Daft Punk are godfathers of EDM, makes me want to puke but the boys in the board rooms want Daft Punk to be huge. They said the same shit about Moby and Paul Okenfold back in the day and both those guys sold a ungodly shit piles of more albums than Derrik May, Juan Atkins or Carl Craig could ever hope to.
