People of faith who are in power are also fighting against that legislation. it's not religion that's the problem, it's the desire to push one's beliefs on others.

It's not so much the paranoia that religion is out to attack atheism that bothers me as the false sense of superiority that seems to accompany being a self-proclaimed atheist these days.

I've never seen a group outside of atheists openly state that their religion makes them better than you (maybe WBCers?)

Sometimes I experience something truly beautiful that leaves me breathless and in those moments I know that God is real. That does not make me an idiot.

But how many people actually take calculus? Not many.

I would say at a bare minimum math should be taught through geometry. Many tradespeople (carpenters, pipe fitters, etc) use geometry extensively at work. People do DIY home improvement all the time, too. It's important for people to know how to build things.

Beyond that though, math is pretty esoteric. Still, the opportunity to pursue these courses should be available to students.

There is, in my opinion, only one way to fix the student loan problem: make student loan debt dischargeable in bankruptcy.

Right now, there is literally no disincentive for banks to lend money to aspiring college students. An investment with a guaranteed return, with zero possibility of default (or Uncle Sam picks up the tab)? What's not to love! It's basically printing money!

All this excess cash floating around is bound to have upward pressure on prices.

The worst part is, there's trillions of dollars of this stuff going around, and I'm sure it's leveraged as well. We could be looking at another mortgage crisis. People in my generation (class of '07) are not going to be able to repay this debt. There's just no way. Not dischargeable in bankruptcy? So what? I can hold a gun to your head and demand a million dollars, but if you don't have a million dollars...

Of course, the loans are federally guaranteed, so that means We the People will be picking up the tab. And our government is already bankrupt. American student loan sovereign debt crisis? Maybe I need a tinfoil hat.

I wish we could vote to keep the chairs empty. I'm writing in Henry Rollins for president.

Yeah, I took both (a decade ago... Ouch). I found the ACT much easier. The wording on some SAT questions seemed like it was written specifically to trick you, whereas the ACT was much more straightforward. I scored in a higher percentile on the ACT, but some people do better on the SAT. I think they test slightly different skill sets. I'd advise any student to take both and see where they do better.

Anyone solve the polygon question FTA? I got 9.
