Really wasn't trying to be an asshole, I just didn't get it. I didn't know his son was running for president. I just thought they were shitting on him for being a libertarian, which is all the MSM seems to do.
I guess I missed the point, was it supposed to be funny? LOL HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN WAR OR LOCKING PEOPLE UP FOR DRUGS!!!
What's worse? POSSIBLY suffering worse losses in a POTENTIAL shooting, or implanting every single child with an irrational paranoia, teaching them to live in fear and suspicion of others? Bulletproof glass, security cameras, and "bodyguard blankets"... The predictable capitalist solution to what is clearly a simple mental health issue.
I'm a young person in the US and I dislike politics. I do vote every two years but I would never vote for a Democrat or Republican. That leaves me voting Libertarian or Green which I'm fine with. Most say I'm "wasting my vote." Fuck that, you're wasting your vote by voting for the same guys every time. Nothing is ever going to change under a (D) or (R), and I feel like more and more young people are realizing that. The things I care about go virtually unacknowledged by the mainstream parties. - I want to dismantle the military machine. Defense spending sucks in so much of the taxpayer's money while education and other spending that would create a better world in the future gets cut. Reduce the military's role to defending our borders ONLY. - I want to end the war on drugs. It has imprisoned and ruined the lives of millions of people over victimless crimes. - I want to replace welfare with work programs like the ones FDR created with the New Deal. That means less people getting paid to sit around, more people with jobs, and the creation of much needed infrastructure. - I think the healthcare system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. There is far too much waste and inefficiency. It seems like too many people trying to get their piece of the action. I think public health care is the way to go. - None of these things could even be remotely possible without campaign finance reform. This is the Achilles heel of the corporatist regime. If we could just get one law passed to disallow big money sponsoring our politicians, it would allow all the other important changes to happen. Right now we're stuck, and it is because big money likes things just the way they are.
Excellent satire, but it raises the question, where do you draw the line between an encouraging parent who is fostering their child's talent and success and a slavedriver parent who is forcing those things upon their child?
I see him as a corporatist and a statist. Now what happens when you mix big business with big government? hmm...
This is a serious problem, and I'm afraid it isn't going to get any better. The US government is the most powerful entity in the world and its purpose is to protect the most powerful people in the world. The executive branch has the legal power to do pretty much anything it wants now, and if it isn't legal they'll do it anyway. The conditions are in place for this country to become strikingly Orwellian. All it will take is one more major terror attack and anybody who dissents will be considered a traitor, terrorist, subversive, or what have you. Not for the sake of security, but because that's what they've wanted all along. The American people are so pacified already, they'll stand by and watch it happen and continue believing that a Republican or Democrat can fix things.
I'm ready for the death of the music industry. I don't need a massive media conglomerate to tell me what to listen to. Imagine a world in which cramming prefabricated music down people's throats is no longer profitable.
Be glad she's your ex!
I don't think it is fair to place equal blame on both sides.
