This sort of thing has always fascinated me, as to whether or not these people genuinely believe what they claim. It's just bizarre to me that somebody could be convinced that God is informing them of the date of the end of the world, and then not lose faith when for twenty years every single prediction turns out to be false. That is some terrifyingly unwavering faith.

Because more casual film-goers enjoyed them, I suppose. The films were still fairly popular with the general public, those who (with no disrespect to Star Wars fans), don't give two hoots who shot first, and thought pod-racing was an exciting, action-packed scene. Ten years ago the 'mainstream' when it came to Star Wars were the people who grew up with the original movies and thought that the new releases were shoddy, childish cash-ins. These days, people who were children during the release of the prequels are growing up with the same nostalgia.

If you feel that strongly, should you not discover whether or not you have the ability to delete your posts before you go about making them? This is not your website, and it's absurd to go about posting whatever you decide to post and then act as if you are entitled to have your posts treated as you wish. It's up to you, not the creators of every website you browse.

I may have to agree with you here. So far this place is an incredibly calm and interesting place to browse, but his most recent submissions appear to be entitled rants demanding that people respect him and do as he pleases or he'll stop posting. I hope that's the limit and that this power user culture does not grow as it has on Reddit.
