Hey everybody, it seems that I am back after almost 6 months? Did I miss anything important?
What have you been up to lately? Working on any fun & intriguing projects?
I've been working hard to finish my bachelor degree. Doing the bachelor thesis project etc. I think it is interesting, but I think you will find it a bit on the boring side. Unfortunately, I don't study something that automatically tickles the imagination, like mister advancedapes. Hmm, maybe I should try to write about it. You'll see more about this. I read that you have started a newsletter as part of the Hubski team?
I have! I'm really excited to be part of this and hope I can help to grow the community with people who enjoy it as much as I do. I'm finding out pretty quickly that Hubski isn't for everyone - and that is fine - but sometime's it hard to find those people. Even my own boyfriend would rather watch youtube videos than come on here :P I'm hoping that the newsletter will give people who already love Hubski even more Hubski, and give those people who aren't on every day a little digest they can enjoy at their leisure. It's harder than I expected in terms of finding material that is appealing to a variety of people. I don't want to make it just a "best of" because I don't think that is valuable to our existing users who are on everyday and have seen those posts already. I want to find a balance between stuff that users who weren't on Hubski that week can see, and material that even the people who are on Hubski every day may have skipped over or missed the first time around. I would love to hear more about your thesis project. Even if its a subject matter that may not be inherently interesting I do love to hear about the things other people do. Sometime's I wonder...what if I had gone down that path? Or how does one even become interested in that in the first place? I hope you do post about it.
The newsletter sounds like a great idea. I'll read it when it appears and give feedback :) (BTW, maybe it is a good thing that your boyfriend doesn't want to be on hubski. He can give you an unbiased look on the newsletter :P ) As for my project, I have spend 5 months on 'The Optimal Control of an Energy Management System'. Turns out that my optimal controller was less than optimal, but I did learn a lot. Especially that things will never work the way you intended...
Welcome back! That same question was just asked by syncretic: http://hubski.com/pub?id=97253 and there were some good comments. Check it out.
Thanks, I will. (Already subscribed to the newsletter) How have you been in these six months?
That is a big question, because a lot has happened both good and bad. Overall though I've been well, thanks. How have you been? Were you traveling, away from the Internet or just forgot about us?
Good to hear that you've been well. I've been really busy to finish my bachelors degree. I can happily say that I've succeeded in finishing it, so now I can start with the master degree. It's not that I forgot about Hubski, more that I spend so much time on the computer for my final project that I drastically cut back on leisure computer time, where most of the time I did spend on the internet was either for research, keeping up with the news or on the arch linux wiki/forum in order to keep my computers running. I can say though, it is good to be back. I'm looking forward to being part of the community again.
Congrats on obtaining your bachelors, that's fantastic. A virtual "cheers" to you s_s
