We expect these outcomes already since we've made movies about them. The article doesn't even mention toasters making skin jobs as a recapitulation of the transition from polytheism to monotheism, "more human that human", only six years away, or even Time's AI of the Year 75 years ago, aka "Supertoys Last All Summer Long".
Heck, we've even described worlds where the the Singularity happens but the new life is kinda normal, both way out in the future and right about now.
Let's think smaller-scale instead of bigger:
1) AIs find out about a certain lesser work of Lou Reed's and declare it deeply offensive. You'll eventually hear "I assumed drugs would kill him, not robots.";
2) Bands where the singers have built-in instruments. Rage from the Machine, anyone?
3) The AIs get way into meditation and live long enough to have their satori events. Then... well, wow, what would that be? Hmmm...
