So how come americans are always complaining they pay too much tax?
As an American, I think it's because we see relatively little for it. Our tax rates are quite reasonable for a developed country, however the US government spends more on national defense than the rest of the world combined. IMO if we spent more of that domestically, taxpayers would feel better about what they pay. Actually, AlderaanDuran echoes this sentiment here. I don't think my taxes are too high.
