"Could he [Nazi war criminal Demjanjuk] have acted “morally” in the context within which he found himself?" So, terrible PR for me at least - they lost me there. I have zero interest in the intense inner workings that must have led to that apparent conundrum. I didn't watch the Japanese half of Clint's WWII biopic either, same reason. -XC

The interesting thing, to me, is that the workings that led to the conundrum were not personal. Demjaniuk did not make the situation in which he had to act; he was born into it. So to understand what he did--and whether or to what extent he was "evil" or a "war criminal"--we need to understand that situation, IMHO.
