Hold-over from "things you will never buy yourself" thread:

The Groma Kolibri, East Germany's smallest travel typewriter.

Instrumental in the film "The Lives of Others" which I rather adore.

$300. Treat yourself, it's pretty damn cool. Also, "The Lives of Others" was amazing. A film that I would gladly see again.

Oh that's very nice. I have one of these. It's not the greatest, but it has nice action, if a bit on the heavy side.

Friend of mine wrote, directed and produced this.

That looks great, it makes me want to get one. I'm old enough to have had "keyboarding" taught to me on a typewriter. I recall using one at home. That's back when whiteout was a necessary thing to have handy. Can't tell you the last time I've used that.

My mother had a Hermes Baby. It was a bitch to use. I learned to type on a Mac LC in 8th grade.

That looks really great! You know, I'd never thought about the role of the typewriter in getting women into the workplace. I'll have to keep an eye out for the full documentary. Writing on a computer is fine, but the visceral nature of the typewriter is so appealing to me.
