There is a universe very much like our own out there, where everything was the same except for a little bit. In that universe, nobody looked at Richard's twitter and nobody cared about the two men. There were no death threats and nobody was threatened with rape. The wheels of humanity kept turning, civilization didn't collapse, free speech wasn't saved or spoiled, and nobody was any different from what they will be in two weeks.
