NPR announced Friday morning that it will no longer produce the Monday-to-Thursday call-in show Talk of the Nation.
It will be replaced by Here and Now, a show produced in partnership with member station WBUR in Boston. Reported stories will be part of the show's format.
This is a shame. I always get stuck listening to call-in section, I just can't get out of the car. Almost every show there is at least one caller that gives me a perspective I wouldn't have had otherwise. Jeremy Hobson is a solid host, and I am sure that Here and Now will be just as good, if not better, but TOTN was a very dynamic and educational show.
Exactly! Also, what about Ken Rudin and the Political Junkie segments? Those are amazing. Those two play off of each other really well. It is the most spontaneous and high-energy call-in show on NPR. They mentioned shows like Diane Rehm as being similar in giving the public the ability to call in -its not. While I love Diane's show, it's extremely different and does not have the same pace or subject matter. This is a loss for NPR.
Easily my favorite radio program and my favorite host. This is a bad move.
I got really used to my NPR schedule in Michigan and when I moved to NC it was different. Most notably, I was used to Terri Gross following Diane Rehm. So, I just stream Michigan radio from my phone when I'm driving. Problem solved. The NPR app is actually quite good.
