CNN also recently announced that they are shuttering their investigative journalism department. What a sad time for news the present has become.
Personally, I think they should be doubling down. Quality long form is one thing the aggregation heavy news sites have a very hard time doing. It's clearly a way the old bastions of journalism can continue to set themselves apart.
It seems that news, like health insurance, is one more of those industries that doesn't respond to profit incentives in a desirable way.
