1. Expect the worst, but hope for the best. 2. You only have one life, so don't waste it. 3. Treat others as you wish to be treated. (<not a life lesson, but sorta my personal philosophy (I feel like all ethical situations are covered under this, and with situations like the trolley scenario, then utilitarianism is what I go for)).

If #2 sounds like YOLO, that's sorta because it is, but unlike YOLO, my emphasis is not that I only live once and "why not", but I only live once so I shouldn't do something stupid. So I ought to do actions that maximize my happiness because only live once, and I ought to do actions that maximize my lifetime so I can keep up my doing things that maximize my happiness. If that makes sense.
