I love this story so much! Does anyone have any other suggestions for mind-boggling short stories (preferably sci-fi)?

Asimov has if I recall correctly two entire volumes of brilliant short stories.

I've read them both :)

I can read short stories all day -- something about the short format makes 2000 pages fly by. Good stuff.

If you like twists, Philip Dick's scifi shorts are full of them.

I've read a lot of his too, I really liked the one about the Russians and the Americans coming up from underground and watching the sunrise and joining the city (I'm not good with titles). Asimov's books/stories consistently entertained me, but some of Dick's stuff didn't always do it for me.

The Life Cycle of Software Objects by Ted Chiang

Second time I've suggested this today. It was posted by caio a while back and I recall really enjoying it. Hope you do too.

There is also The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect, which is somewhat related.
