Or, in the case of probably countless species, we never knew they existed to begin with. How many habitats did we destroy before conservation was even on most people's radar screens? Hard to think about.Also it's a reminder that every hectare of rainforest destroyed includes many species we don't even know exist yet. So we'll never see them.
