Okay I gave it eight minutes. I'd be curious what you think I'd get out of more.

Honestly I'm not sure, I think you gave it enough of a try to decide if you can stand the obnoxious mannerisms and dense script (also, he thinks The Matrix was a good movie!). I've watched every Action Button Review so far and I'm still not sure what makes me come back to them, but it's probably a combination of the analysis of game mechanics with comparisons to almost every other relevant game in existence, expanded into cultural critique, mixed with deeply personal anecdotes, and a bit of Stockholm Syndrome. Sorry for not being more specific, I haven't finished watching it yet.

The Matrix was a good movie. It wasn't the 2nd coming of cinema the way everyone portrays it to be but it's an objectively good film.

I watched enough of it to find out I've missed maybe a dozen hotpatches, and I say that as someone who has played through 1.9 times. So I'm not unfamiliar with the material, and I'm definitely deeply invested in the game. But perhaps it's the lack of universality (combined with the deliberately languorous pace) that kept me from going "I'm totally budgeting ten hours of my life to this." I mean, Roots is 12.

Yeah, the hotpatches bit was... slightly less annoying than the "games have come a long way since Pacman" bit in the Pacman review. Part of me hopes that he's serious this time about the next season's videos being significantly shorter so I can actually recommend people to watch them. With that said, I haven't finished watching part 6 "Season of trash" yet but so far it's my favorite.
