Let's be really clear - you have a couple sociologists "forecasting" that the future will be worse than the past. This is the most common prediction in history and is often true. Because humans function largely by pattern recognition and aversion, getting one prediction correct out of 20 makes you Nostradamus. This is one of the less-publicized secrets of the financial markets: nearly every single scion of investment regularly dragged out on CNBC has made one correct prediction.
