I have been thinking about Life and entropy a lot, and just today stumbled upon Luigi Fantappiè. I read Shrodinger's What is Life again a couple of years ago, and the fact that we yet have no good definition of Life, but can call it when we see it, drives me crazy.
Biologists ought to be ashamed of themselves. What the hell are they studying? They can't say.
Life has a very unique relationship with entropy, and I am willing to bet that any useful definition of Life is going to include it.
Here is a question: Is consciousness retrocausal?
Within consciousness, the outcome precedes the event. Where else in the universe does this happen?
We might say the mental model is a result of cause, but success (or even definition) of the model is a reflection of the future, which has not occurred when the model is cause.
